007 Incarnations

“The name is Bond, James Bond.” It’s a singular introduction that immediately conjures up our personal vision of the man, be it a favorite Bond actor, an interpretation from the comics, or a 007 inspired up by Ian Fleming’s prose. Yet during the research for the James Bond Lexicon we found that there are many different versions of the James Bond character in existence, each with their own distinct timeline and history. Radio Bond – We’ve been asked a few times where the radio and audio versions of James Bond may fit in this list. As these tend to be adaptations of existing material (mainly the Fleming stories) we don’t count them as a separate incarnation, but if anyone knows of a licensed original-for-audio Bond story then we’d be happy to add it to the list.

Unauthorized Bond – The James Bond Lexicon project focuses on stories that have been officially licensed, or acknowledged in an official capacity, so the various incarnation of Bond in pastiches, fan-fiction, cameos, spoofs etc. aren’t covered here.
