STORY TITLES AND CODES
Each entry in the James Bond Lexicon project is crossed referenced against the story (or stories) from which the information was obtained. To avoid repetition of lengthy story titles, all the stories covered in this Lexicon have been assigned abbreviations as per the table below.
Story codes are used when an item is first mentioned, or when a story adds significant additional information. It doesn’t indicate every appearance of that entry. If something is mentioned in a later story, but no new information is revealed, it isn’t noted in the Lexicon entry.
Where stories are straight adaptations from one media to another with no new information or characters added, they have been omitted. This primarily applies to the newspaper comic strip adaptations of the original Ian Fleming novels. The only exception is the comic strip adaptation of The Spy Who Loved Me, as the first half of the strip is all new material.
MEDIA / CONTINUITY
The different James Bond continuities that are covered by the James Bond Lexicon project include the theatrical movie release, the prose novels and short stories, TV appearances, and English language comics. To help identify which continuity a particular entry relates to we have used the following codes after the story tile abbreviations:
cb = comic book
cs = newspaper comic strip
m = movie
mn = movie novelization
n = novel
ss = short story
tv = television
Where possible every attempt has been made to remain consistent with story title abbreviations used in previous Bond books or that are in common usage among Bond scholars.
