Casino Royale (1967) – A new powerful SMERSH is eliminating agents, forcing the heads of all the world’s security agencies to come together to ask the legendary Sir James Bond to come out of retirement to deal with the threat. In order to confuse the enemy Sir James, declares that all field agents should use the code name James Bond. He also persuades ex-agent and now millionaire businesswoman Vesper Lynd to recruit baccarat expert Evelyn Tremble to take on SMERSH agent Le Chiffre at Casino Royale in an effort to undermine SMERSH operations. Lynd is kidnapped by Le Chiffre and SMERSH, the first of several kidnappings that brings Sir James and other Bond agents into a climatic battle during which the head of SMERSH, known as Doctor Noah, is revealed to be Bond’s ineffectual nephew, Jimmy Bond. Once his secret is revealed Jimmy Bond is tricked into swallowing an “atomic pill” that eventually goes off killing everyone in the base and in the Casino. Never Say Never Again (1983) – After a poor performance during a training exercise, Bond is sent to a health clinic. While there he witnesses strange behavior centered around one of the private patients. The patient is an US Air Force pilot who has been surgically altered with a false retina scan to allow him to arm two nuclear cruise missiles. The missiles are stolen mid flight by SPECTRE, and Bond is tasked with tracking them down. He crosses paths with the megalomaniacal Maximilian Largo who is planning to explode one of the warheads under an oilfield.
